Henry David Thoreau was an American naturalist, essayist, poet, and philosopher. A leading transcendentalist, he is best known for his book Walden, or “Life in the Woods“, a reflection upon simple living in natural surroundings (Walden Pond), and his essay “Civil Disobedience“, an argument in favour of citizen disobedience against an unjust state. Sounds like a plan to me.
Responsible for one of the most quotable of quotes, and one of the truest –
“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation”
